Psalms
Still Waters (blog title) refers to Psalm 23, one of my favorite Psalms. Every morning when I open the pages of a book that is ancient, a book that is God breathed, I meet with the One who created and sustains my soul, who knows me and is closer than my very breath (Psalm 139), and He leads me beside still waters. Every morning for the last 20 I have been reading several Psalms and it is renewing my understanding of who God is. He is eternal, yet mindful of man. He is just, yet merciful. He is powerful, yet gentle. He is a rock and refuge for those who trust in Him. He rewards the humble (thankful), and rewards the wicked. He hears those who cry out to Him. His love is everlasting. He is mindful of generations, yet is mindful of details, and knows ME. God has led me in confession, has quieted my fears, has shown his compassion in forgiveness, and has reminded me that He is working out everything for my good (Romans 8). As I read, God confirms these things about Himself and His deeds in my heart and life.
